Amazing introduction into triathlons for kids and adults alike.
It was my daughter's first ever triathlon and she loved the whole day. We gave out medals to the sprinters and the older kids before taking part in the family tri. Her first proper lake swim and she smashed it. She followed her big sister who is part of Reading Rascals and is now desperate to join herself. Thank you for a great day everyone.

Good, well organised event and would highly recommend.

Great event!
- suggest a corral time prior to start time
- any better way of organising transition to separate racers from those setting up

From first timers to long timers, this is a great triathlon for all!
I took part in the Sprint Tri, which was really well organised. Registration was simple, you felt well organsied as you racked and lots of marshals around the course to make sure you're safe and everyone is following the rules. The atmosphere was really friendly, even with some very good athletes competing, their were first timers too that received the same welcome and praise.
The kids triathlon was great too, buzzing atmosphere and a great experience for all kids and parents involved!

Great Experience of an Open Water Triathlon
Such a beautiful location and a really well organized event. The start of the swim was a challenge for some of the younger competitors and I agree with the comments that smaller waves may have helped. It’s also q expensive considering the technology did not provide split timings.
Thank you for the feedback - we will definitely be reviewing the swim start option and format for the younger children next time. The results do have splits for each discipline here - https://results.eventchiptiming.com/results.aspx?CId=16202&RId=12293&EId=3

super event
Marshall’s very supportive for the kids

Well organised event, only for very confident open water swimmers
The treading water then busy mass start was regrettably too much for my 11 year old. May be partly my fault for not supporting with open water practice but a phased entry would have made this so much more accessible for confident swimmers who just can’t cope with the inevitable chaos of a mass swim start.
Unfortunately confidence too knocked to want to come again next year for T2 but might be able to persuade them for the family fun event.
We appreciate your comments on the swim start - this is definitely something we are going to review for next year as the popularity of the event is increasing. I really hope we see you again on the start line next year.

Overwhelming mass start swim, lovely bike and run.
The mass start felt very narrow and crowded and was far too much for me as a relative beginner - I was completely overwhelmed.
The transitions, bike and run were great and sort of made up for the swim experience.

Great fun and a well run event!

tristar 1
My son competed in the Triastar on Sunday and all was great. The only thing that was upsetting and worrying was the when they get in the water and instead of swimming straight away they had to tread water. Some kids did not know how to do this and they were panicking, some kids actually grab on to my child and he had to hold himself to the kayak for support. The next group for the girls I think they changed this but maybe something to remember for next year as the kids were really nervous also the parents off course.
We appreciate your comments on the swim start - this is definitely something we are going to review for next year as the popularity of the event is increasing. I really hope we see you again on the start line next year.

Really good event
It could possibly be made easier for spectators to get from swim to cycle to run view. quite narrow in places.
the delay to the start was quite long.
it was great other than that
We appreciate spectator management is a challenge at this event with the number of entrants and volunteers available to manage it. The primary aim is to keep competitors as safe and their experience as seamless as possible. We would be open to suggestions of how to improve the spectator experience without jeopardising participant safety.

Beautiful location and well organised
Dorney is such a lovely place for an off road triathlon and the event runs smoothly with safety top priority. I agree with other reviewers that the mass starts for younger ones are a bit brutal. Also more food outlets please…. when you’re there all day just one coffee van (with a 30 minute wait) isn’t enough!

Fun, bit chaotic, friendly
Marshals and volunteers were good, more shade be nice as lots of waiting around for our event. I found the swim a bit tricky as my daughter was holding onto me for most of it and other swimmers went too close so maybe doing in waves and supplying tow floats. Thanks for putting on the family event.
Thanks for the feedback about the swim - we are definitely going to look at ways to improve this experience.

Good event, just not that easy for spectators, specially if you have multiple children

Perfect first Tri for kids
Mass start for TriStar 1 was chaotic. Small waves would have been better.
Some of the bikes were bunched up together making it difficult to transition.
Staff from start to finish were helpful and friendly. Will be back next year for sure!
Thank you

Brilliant triathlon in an amazing location

Great event
Would it be possible to hold the presentations a little closer to the end of each race? There was quite a long wait between the final race and the presentations, and then many families headed to the ice cream van afterwards, which resulted in a very long queue. (But I do love the idea of ice cream as prizes!) It was a great event overall, and this is just a suggestion that might make the length of the event a bit shorter. Thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work organising it!
As much as we would love to be able to host the presentations after each event there are operational challenges with this that the race director is still overseeing the management of all the other races and there are sometimes queries re results which have to be sorted which take time, this was true yesterday right up until the moment of the presentation. Sadly, our catering arrangements are dictated to us by Dorney Lake itself.....

Good for anyone who wants to try triathlon
It would be very good if we have detailed instruction to the site by car and by train. It took us 75 min to cycle from train station to the entrance as we were lost. We arrived the site only 30 min ahead of the race and exhausted ourselves of the extra cycling miles
Will take on board this feedback - glad you made it to the start line
Dangerous swimming start
The Tristart 1 group had to swim out to the second buoy and tread water there for 5 minutes before starting their race. It was chaos with the many 8-10 year olds panicking and grabbing onto the rafts. Some had to be recovered and pulled from the race.
This ruined the whole event for many.
We apologise for this - this is something we are definitely going to manage differently next year and have listened to the feedback.
