About the Race
The Thames Towpath 10 is a 10-mile event organised by West 4 Harriers, perfect for runners of all abilities. Whether you're preparing for a marathon, aiming for a personal best, or just looking to enjoy a sociable run along the Thames, this event offers a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
This year’s route highlights the scenic riverside stretches around Teddington Lock and Richmond, providing a flat and accessible course suitable for runners at every stage of their journey.
Course Details
- Terrain: A flat, multi-surface course featuring towpath sections and quiet pathways along the Thames.
- Markings: Each mile is clearly signposted.
- Conditions: Predominantly pavement and gravel paths, with some uneven areas.
- Water Stations: Positioned at key points along the course, including the start/finish. Please bring your own reusable cup to help us minimise waste.
Runners should keep left on the towpath to ensure safety and maintain flow.
Registration Details
- Closing Date: Midday, Saturday 5th April 2025.
- On-the-Day Entries: Available for £30.
- Race Packs:
- Collect from Up & Running (Sheen store) from 29th March to 5th April.
- Alternatively, pick up on race day at the start location.
Prizes and Finisher Rewards
- Prizes for overall and age category winners.
- Every finisher will receive a commemorative pint glass as a memento of the event.
Facilities
- Toilets: Available near the start/finish area.
- Bag Drop: A manned bag drop will be provided.
Travel Information
- Getting There: Old Deer Park is a short walk from Richmond Station, which is accessible by train, tube, and bus.
- Parking: There is limited parking nearby. Please avoid parking at Pools in the Park. Instead, use public transport or car share if possible.
Important Notes
- Headphones: For safety, headphones are not permitted during the race.
- Route Changes: If maintenance or flooding affects the route, marked diversions will be in place to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Getting to Thames Towpath 10:
Take the train, tube or bus to Richmond Rail station. Old Deer Park is a 5 minute walk from Richmond Rail station.
We encourage competitors to travel by public transport if possible. If you are travelling by car, please car share if possible. Please DO NOT park in Pools in the park car park as this car park is restricted to Pools in the park users only and parking at Pools in the park is prohibited in accordance with our race licence guidelines from Richmond council. Instead, there is plenty of parking available across the road (A316) from the Pools in the park. From the M25, follow the M3 towards London which becomes the A316. Before you get to Richmond, the parking facility is on your right. From London, follow the A316 to Richmond. Stay on the A316 until you have passed the Richmond Roundabout and the parking is on your left.
