Welcome to the ATW St Albans Half Marathon 2027 – proudly known as the #icelollyrun.
On Sunday 13th June 2027, we'll once again bring thousands of runners, walkers, families, supporters and local businesses together for one of St Albans' most loved community events. With a history spanning more than 40 years, the event has become a highlight of the city's calendar, combining fantastic racing, family fun and community spirit.
Whether you're chasing a personal best, taking on your first race, walking with friends or cheering from the sidelines, there's something for everyone at #SAHM.
Every finisher will earn a medal and, of course, an ice lolly at the finish line!
The ATW St Albans Half Marathon is proudly delivered by runners, for runners, while raising money for local charities and community organisations.
The event village, located opposite Westminster Lodge, creates a true festival atmosphere throughout the morning and includes:
Our partners at Skechers will also be joining us, giving you the opportunity to try the latest running shoes and speak with their expert team.
Whether you're taking part or supporting, make a day of it and enjoy everything the event has to offer.
Take on the iconic St Albans Half Marathon and enjoy a scenic closed-road route through the beautiful country lanes surrounding the city. It's a challenging but rewarding course with fantastic local support and views that make every hill worthwhile. Running entrants must be able to complete the course within 3 hours 15 minutes. Note that due to limitations on the length of the road closures, anyone who has not passed the 10k turnaround point by 10:50am will be asked to drop down to the 10k route, for safety reasons. This is the equivalent of running at approximately 8min30 per km pace. We would recommend that anyone who thinks they may be at risk of making this cutoff, considers entering the Walking Half marathon.
Wheelchair athletes are welcome to take on the full half marathon route.
Wheelchair entrants must be able to complete the course within 3 hours 30 minutes.
Prefer to enjoy the course at a more relaxed pace? Gather your friends and tackle the Walking Half Marathon together.
All walkers receive the same half marathon medal and an ice lolly at the finish.
Walking entrants must be able to complete the course within 5 hours.
Our popular closed-road 10K returns for its third year, offering runners the chance to experience the excitement of race day on traffic-free roads. Starting alongside the half marathon runners, the 10K delivers an unforgettable event atmosphere from the very first mile. There is no cut off time for the 10K!
Open to participants aged 15 and over.
Perfect for runners of all abilities, the 5K is ideal whether you're looking to race hard, build confidence over a shorter distance or simply enjoy being part of race day.
Open to participants aged 11 and over.
Our famous 1.5-mile Family Fun Run is the largest fun run in Hertfordshire and welcomes participants of all ages.
Starting beneath the main event arch, the route loops through Verulamium Park before finishing on the home straight of the running track.
Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult with their own Fun Run entry. Both child and adult require their own ticket.
The Family Fun Run is not chip timed.
A rolling start will operate between 8:45am and 9:15am. Families with prams are encouraged to start in the later waves.
Which school will be crowned St Albans' most active primary school in 2027?
Every child who takes part in the Family Fun Run can help their school compete for one of two exciting titles:
Highest Participation Award – awarded to the school with the highest percentage of pupils taking part in the Family Fun Run.
Most Improved School Award – awarded to the school that achieves the biggest increase in participation compared to previous years.
Gather your classmates, encourage your friends and help your school claim the bragging rights for 2027!
Community impact remains at the heart of the event.
In 2025 and 2026, £1 from every entry was donated to support the upkeep of St Albans' Abbey View Running Track. We're delighted to confirm that we'll continue supporting the track in 2027, helping ensure local athletes of all ages can continue to train and compete for years to come.
Think you and your friends, colleagues or club mates have what it takes?
The SA Law Challenge is open to all runners. Simply create a team, choose a team name and ensure every team member enters the same team name during registration.
For each team, the first three finishers in the 5K, 10K, Wheelchair Half Marathon and Half Marathon will contribute towards the team result.
The winning team will have the opportunity to nominate a charity to receive a donation.

If you purchase an event t-shirt, please collect it from the Event Village on Saturday 12th June or Sunday 13th June. The t-shirt collection point will be located next to registration.
A limited number of additional t-shirts may be available to purchase on the day, subject to availability.
