Our pledge to get more women on our start lines

Women make up half of runners in the UK however when it comes to racing its common for the start line to only be 24-38% females. Clearly something is going wrong here. SheRaces found that women often don’t feel they belong on the start line or there are barriers from getting there. We want to change that. We are following SheRaces guidelines and making changes to our events and marketing strategies to close the gap. We are pledging to do what we can to get more women on event start lines, below is our commitment of what you can expect from ATW at all of our events:

Using inclusive imagery- you’ll always see a mix of men and women on our social media posts, adverts and videos

Generous cut offs- we pride ourselves on providing events that athletes at any stage of their journey can take part in, so we allow plenty of time for our slower athletes and can often accommodate for early starts upon request

Fair deferral policies- no woman should be penalised for having a child, at our events you will always be able to transfer to another event within 2 years

Equal prizes and awards- all categories at our events receive the same prizes and awards

Equal racing opportunities- at our triathlon events we always start the open and female categories off separately to give the fastest athletes a fair racing opportunity

Sanitary products available – all our races have toilets supplied with sanitary products as well as staff having some at registration

No harrassment policy – we communicate our expectations of participants, marshals and staff before every event and have a zero tolerence policy for harrassing and unkind behaviour
